Richtlijn dekolonisatie MRSA uitneembare gebitsprothesen

Welke maatregelen past een WZC best toe in het beleid omtrent MRSA-positieve bewoners met uitneembare gebitsprothesen?

De literatuur bevestigt dat uitneembare gebitsprothesen en de mondholte mogelijke reservoirs zijn voor MRSA. ¹⁠

In het draaiboek “Infectiebeleid in Vlaamse Woonzorgcentra, 2020” ²⁠ en in de Belgische richtlijnen (2005) ter preventie van overdracht van MRSA in woon- en zorgcentra ³⁠ wordt hierover geen informatie geboden. Gezonde Mond stelt aanvullende richtlijnen voor rond het dekoloniseren van uitneembare gebitsprothesen.

Om het risico op kruisinfectie en hercontaminatie te verminderen dient een dekolonisatie van de uitneembare gebitsprothesen te gebeuren gevolgd door een continue zorgvuldige dagelijkse hygiëne van de uitneembare gebitsprothesen en de mond van bewoners met MRSA.^4–7⁠ Uiteraard valt het moment van dekolonisatie van de mond en gebitsprothesen samen met de algemene dekolonisatie.
